Stealth yawned, showing off an impressive row of needle point teeth.  Chel observed that they were not like cat teeth anymore, but narrower and curved.  If it was not for the fact that Stealth had been HER kitten and was snuggling up next to her, she might have been afraid.  It was a strange thing to have a cat the size of a mountain lion purring next to you and nuzzling your hands seeking affection. Chel looked back to her book plate and the words on it.  'Lexx didn't say anything about last night.'  He had sent Stealth in to wake her up early for breakfast.  She wasn't sure what time it was on the station itself, but it was early enough that most of the stores and shops seemed to be closed.  While Lexx had not said anything, he looked worried and frustrated. The clothes he had chosen for the day reminded Chel vaguely of what she had dreamed him wearing, only they were a beautiful rich red with a gold trim instead of black.  He had a way of moving that made her forget his role in the game.  Even with the gloom that persisted in his wake, he walked with his head tilted up in a proud, confident manner.  It was so weird to watch.  At the same time, it was admirable. It was like watching a stallion prancing despite being saddled and broken.  It was a fitting analogy, as sad as it was. Riley had introduced Chel to Maelinn on the way to breakfast, which he insisted that they have together.  Maenae was sent off on the way, much to her disappointment.  It had amused Chel to see how Riley spoke and acted around Maelinn.  He clearly liked her and Chel could see why.  She was very pleasant to talk to, although there was a heavy sense of sadness that lingered around her.  Chel would ask later what Maelinn was, because she looked a lot like a Rishan, but her skin was so pale. Breakfast had been good.  Strange food, but good.  Riley had been insistent that Chel enjoy herself and looked like he would crumble if she didn't.  It had crossed her mind to refuse to eat anything just to spite the obnoxious alien.  But the concerned look in his eyes made her feel guilty.  He was really trying to make up for the previous day. Chel's gaze skipped down a few paragraphs.  There were other things she was beginning to feel bad about.  'I'm supposed to be watching my brother and sister,.. and there's something different here,… with Lexx.' Another paragraph.  She squinted slightly, reading it to herself.  'It was one thing to be alone with him when I thought he was an alien,… but he's human,… very human,.. and everyone keeps telling me he likes me.' Blank lines. 'I'm,.. afraid of that,…'   Chel sighed.  'I've asked Lexx if there was a way I could stay home at night and come to The Rift during the day.'  She didn't want to just leave.  She wanted to stay, but with a little more distance.  'He said he has a remote that he can give to me to open the door….'
