"If Epsy comes to her senses and allows you take the eggs, Chel, then we will work out moving them off of Earth and into Lexx's ship."  Zeta leaned his head out, turned sideways to better hear what Riley was saying.  "There's plenty of room there, but I'm not sure what you're going to do about food.  Lexx may not want to feed them."
Zeta stepped backwards, almost running into the wall as he did.  Lexx may not want to feed them?  Not want to feed Zeta's Maenaes?  Zeta blinked.  He felt strange about the conversation he had overheard and a bit guilty.
Nobody, not even Epsy had been clear about what was going on.  Stealth had simply said Epsy had eggs.  Nobody said anything about hungry Maenaes.  Zeta trotted down the balcony.  He had to find food for the hungry Maenaes and take it to Epsy and hope she didn't try to take a bite out of him for the effort.
"I'll figure out something."  Chel took a bite of the sweet pastry.  It was not quite as good now that it had cooled during their conversation, but it was still a delicious breakfast.
