Lexx and Chel walked on in silence. Chel didn't have anything else to say. Her thoughts were still on this 'sister' of Lexx's. Then, she realized that they were completely alone. There was no sign of Epsy and Zeta. She looked back.
"Lexx, did you see where Zeta and Epsy went? I didn't see them leave."
"Hopefully they ran off to play for awhile,…" Lexx shrugged. He glanced at Chel, then nervously ahead of them. It was time. He needed to say something now, just in case he never saw her again. There was always that possibility. The hair along the back of his neck rose as a tense sensation worked its way through his wings and down his back. "I uhm,… wanted to talk to you without them around anyway." He swallowed.
Why was this so hard? He could walk into a battle without showing a shred of emotion. Fear was something he rarely gave room to. But this? It was new. "This is really,… awkward for me." He admitted, drawing in a slow breath.
"Hmmm?" Chel was not fully paying attention, still looking for the two sallomandyrs.
