Meanwhile, on another part of the island, Epsy stood vigilantly over her nest.  She nimbly walked over the rocks that surrounded the clutch, pausing every few moments to look in all directions and listen.  Then she would lower her head and fuss over the six oblong eggs.  She moved leaves off them, then put leaves on them.  Sometimes it seemed like she couldn't decide what she wanted to do with them. From the safety of a nearby clump of foliage, Zeta watched.  It was all fascinating.  It was also dangerous.  Epsy was bigger than he and weighed quite a bit more.  There was also the fact that Epsy was considerably faster than Zeta.  If he did not approach her correctly, he could easily imagine the pain her narrow rows of teeth would inflict.  He had bigger teeth … but she had more. Zeta also couldn't imagine fighting against her.  He wanted to avoid it and bring everything back to normal. He had a plan. Zeta slunk back into the undergrowth allowing the leaves to rustle this time with an intended flip of his tail.  He wanted to see what Epsy would do before he came out. Epsy growled and dropped to all fours, swishing her tail and waiting to see if anything was coming.  Her eyes were fixated on where Zeta had been, but she could not smell anything.  There wasn't a breeze.  Someone or something was there.
