"Lexx,…"  And suddenly, Damian realized he had gone too far and his jovial mood vanished.  "I was joking,… really." "…"  Lexx was too stunned by the fact that Damian could actually speak in a normal tone without the vapid stupid cheerfulness he customarily displayed to respond immediately. "Don't be mad!"  Damian took the silence for something entirely different.  "Why don't you tell me what I can build?  Kane does need some place better than just the ship." "I know,"  Lexx sighed.  "But you are not understanding just how dangerous it is to bring a lot of ships here,…  Do you REALIZE what the humans would do if they found us here, Damian?  They're obsessed with studying aliens,.. and I'm AFRAID of them.  Nobody will help us if we fall into their hands." Lexx surprised himself with how much he said.  Especially admitting that he was afraid.  He spoke so casually about the same topic with Chel, but could not tell her that he was really afraid of what her people might do to him.  He had read reports and warnings about select groups of humans. While he had been told the vast majority of humans were not violent… a report he'd found grossly inaccurate in his first encounter with one, he now understood the opposite was true.  And not all humans would be like Chel.  She herself had been sure to let him know that.
