"It must be nice," Lexx ran his fingers lightly through Chel's hair, not acknowledging the sudden shift in conversation.
"Actually, it can get very annoying." Chel quickly lifted her hand to gently remove Lexx's hand. "I'm old enough to make my own decisions, but since I pretty much live at home, they have rules for me. One of those rules is not to be out with strange men." She tried to keep the conversation from taking a negative turn like it had the evening before.
"I'm offended." He was still smiling.
"But you're smiling." Chel pointed out, glancing into Lexx's eyes then looking away. "And you're playing with me." She shifted from one foot to the other as a touch of nervous glee ran through her body. Lexx's entire attention was focused on her and he had the nicest smile she had ever seen him have directed at her. His golden eyes were shining with an unusual light of affection that Chel had only thought she had glimpsed before. 'I can barely look at Lexx rightnow. He's being so … cute.'
