Twenty minutes later, Stealth had repositioned herself on her back and was stretched out enjoying a cool breeze coming from one of the air vents in the living room. Her left ear twitched as she heard a key in the lock on the front door. Something told her it was Chel and Keith returning so she didn’t have to get up and hide or anything.
“Stealth, Fly, we’re back!” Chel announced stepping inside with Keith. “Ready to go?”
At that moment, the optic on the device in the wall shifted from blue to red and it emitted a very high signal that not even Stealth could hear. She wasn’t aware anything was going on until she heard a loud wham that sent a tremor through the floor followed by Chel shrieking.
