“Then why don’t you hate Kaimar?” Maelinn was not ready to give up. “She was a baby when they died.” Zaile stated flatly. “Lexx would have only been a small child …” Maelinn mused aloud. “He’s not a child now.” “Am I understanding correctly that the entire reason you hate Lexx is because they chose to keep him and not you?” Maelinn blinked as Zaile’s words finally sunk it. It was all so irrational and unlike Zaile. “I don’t understand why you blame him for that. He did not abandon you.” “They kept him.” Zaile fidgeted. The more times he said it aloud, the more flimsy it sounded.

  1. I just want to slap him for being so childish. It’s infuriating.

    1. I know I’m way late answering this, but parental abandonment hits hard. Even if it’s reasonable (giving up a child for adoption because you literally can’t take care of them, for example) it’s hard to accept. Zaile is still wrong, but he’s understandably wrong. Maelinn is handling this very well by calmly talking him through it.

  2. Y’know, if Zalie doesn’t resolve this he probably *will* end up letting his issues taint his relationship with Kaimar they way they’ve colored his feelings towards Lexx…

Um if they kept you, you would be in the same situation as Lexx, most likely. God he is so immature.
