Lexx looked out over the landscape.  This was a loss.  It wasn't his first, but this one hurt.  Suddenly, everything began to look grim.  Lexx sighed and walked toward one of the few trees that were in the area.  He stared at the ground the entire way, kicking at the dirt.  Then he sat down on one of the rocks near the base of the tree. Zeta and Steel walked after him.  "We go back now?"  Zeta questioned in concern. "…"  He did not answer. "It's too hot here,"  Steel complained. "Lexx okay?"  Zeta leaned over a rock next to Lexx and tried to look at his face.  He couldn't see it very well with Lexx's hair in the way. "Leave me alone."  Lexx grumbled dismissively.  'I didn't succeed,.. Rook got away.  She never puts up much of a fight.  She got away.'  The thought ran through his mind repeatedly, each time dragging him deeper and deeper within himself.  'I messed up.  I hate this feeling, but I can't get rid of it. What if I don't make it?  What will happen?  They still don't own me,.. no,.. they do.  If I don't succeed it's lifetime employment.  It's legal.  I'll … never see Chel again.' Lexx's throat tightened and he swallowed.  'Ever … I can't live with that.'

  1. I know he’d hate it, but I want to give Lexx a hug so badly right now. He looks like a little scared kid.
Of course that’s what I’d be as soon as he noticed me hugging.
