Chel took her time getting ready for bed. She could still hear her family talking in the dining room and wished that she could be in there with them, but the guilty feeling of hiding something told her that she needed to stay away so she wouldn't give anything away.
Lexx was important to her. She didn't want to endanger him,... or Riley ... or Damian ... or even annoying Claudia. They were nice overall and well meaning. They had no idea what could happen to them if people knew; Neither did Chel. She didn't want to imagine.
Chel closed the door to her room, mind full of racing thoughts. She turned off the lights and slid into her nice, warm, comfortable and safe bed. Chel closed her eyes and took a deep calming breath.
She felt the sheet suddenly twitch and pull. A creeping shiver spread up Chel's body. Her first thought there was a very large spider in her bed, then she remembered there were other things in her room that might be there and she might not want to squish them.
"Kip, that better be you." Chel cringed, prepared to jump out of bed.
