Day 14 - Evening Chel had spent the day playing video games with her brother and watching TV.  Evening had not come soon enough.  The closer it got to night, the more an odd feeling of anticipation built up inside.  She really wanted to see Lexx. Kip ran across a countertop as Chel walked through the kitchen.  He was asking yet another question about Earth customs.  The little AI had been a bit of a pest earlier.  It was like having another little brother.  He asked question after question after question.  But he was also good to have around.  Chel had spent an hour in her bedroom just talking to Kip about Lexx. The peripheral was very informative and it felt like speaking to a real person.  It helped Chel to loosen up since she couldn't talk to any of her friends about Lexx.  She had almost mentioned him in a phone call to her roommate that afternoon.  Almost. "Stay inside, Kip,"  Chel made sure to use short sentences with him.  It was harder for him to find work arounds when she was precise.  Kip made a noise which sounded suspiciously like a sigh and sat down on the counter to wait for Chel to come back inside.  Chel unlocked the door to the backyard and stepped outside. There was a warm breeze and the night sky was clear.  Stars scattered across it as though they had been carelessly tossed.  Chel looked up as she walked across the short concrete porch and down the steps.  'Where are you, Lexx?'  she asked quietly in her head.  She slid her hand up under her bangs to see the sky without them flipping into her eyes. Chel was beginning to get concerned.  It was almost midnight.  He still wasn't there.  'Maybe he forgot about the time difference,… or maybe he's not paying attention to what time it is,… or maybe,…'  Her imagination drifted a little too far into the possibilities of what was making Lexx late.  'No, don't think like that.  He's ok.  He's ok.'
