Day 15, Morning A pair of gleaming dark blue eyes, followed by a long gold, black and brown body appeared amidst the lower branches of a bush.  Spat was just making his way back to his den after an early morning breakfast of chicken eggs from the nearby farm.  He was still licking egg yolk off his whiskers. The ferret had never tasted anything so good.  Two weeks of all kinds of eggs from the farm, chicken eggs, turkey eggs, peacock eggs, quail eggs had made him a bit cocky.  There had also been several encounters with the cats that lived in the farmer's barn and the farmer's dog.  The farmer would probably never be able to figure out how the dog had ended up with most of his fur singed off his head and shoulders. Nosing along the grass beneath another bush, Spat became aware that he wasn't alone.  A low lump of golden armor was creeping toward him in an unnatural way.  The ferret's eyes widened as he lifted his head up high to see what it was, ready to run. It was at that point that Dig decided to charge.  Even in this bulky body he was quick, much faster than the armadillo he was bonded to.  Spat made a coughing sound and immediately made a run for it in a somewhat uneven bouncing gait. Dig bounded after him, keeping his eyes on the ferret's now frizzed tail.  Spat realized in horror that he was going to have to fight if he couldn't get to his den and give him the slip.  He wasn't in any hurry to leave his life of abundant eggs.  Lexx never gave him food that good! Spat thought quick and detoured to a closer hole he had dug into the side of a hill.  The earth there had proven to be too soft for his liking so he had abandoned it.  Now, he had an idea.  He just had to get to the hole and dig as fast as he could until he got to the opposite side.  With any luck, the tunnel would collapse behind him and slow down Dig enough for him to get out of sight. The ferret scrambled into his partially dug hole and immediately began to dig, panicking as he heard far bigger claws moving the earth behind him.  This wasn't a problem to the single minded Dig.  He was bigger, stronger and within a few minutes he would have Spat out where he could actually fight him.
