Lexx glanced over his shoulder as he headed toward a field of tall grass. It would provide good cover for a short distance until he could make his escape and put more distance between him and his pursuers. Pyre swooped out of the air, fire erupting from his talons as he strafed the field. Lexx was too far away to see his targets, but their yelping cries reached his ears. Serenity plowed into the grass ahead of him and there was a crack behind him. Lexx’s wings rose of their own accord as he instinctively prepared to leap into the air. A ball of light entered his periphery and he folded his wings too late. It wound around the top of his wing, another dragging an energy cord around his other wing. Lexx shook his wings, trying to get them free, but a third sphere wound around his torso. The orbs traveled on their own path, unwinding an ever lengthening line around his body.
