Riley sighed softly.  He worried too much about Lexx.  He knew better than to try to tell him what to do.  Lexx heard what he had to say,… he just had to choose to follow it, before it was too late.  Riley squeezed Maelinn's shoulder.  She had come into his quarters for evening tea and to keep Riley company on his shift to observe Lexx.  There were three screens up in the room, two were displaying different views of Lexx,… sleeping.  The other was fixed on Trasik.  She was in a bar in the closest away station in the middle of an elaborate party,… complete with some very lascivious activities. Riley kept that window the smallest.  He wasn't interested in his older sister's debauchery.  He hoped their parents were watching.  There would be some strong words from father and mother about how badly her actions reflected on their good family name. 'Hmm,.. I wish Maelinn would get a relay,… we could at least kiss if she did, but I do not want to push it.  I know her well enough to know she does not want such a thing in her head,… for the same reasons Chel wouldn't.'  And there were a few more reasons she had, most having to do with her time in the ADC. 'It would make being together easier.  Zaile knows.  I know he does by how he's been keeping Maelinn busy,… and those littan girls,… I swear they are being paid to flirt with me.'  Riley rested his chin against Maelinn's head, 'It doesn't matter.  I know what I want.  I just want to help Lexx,… finish this job and be with Maelinn.'  He plotted, 'Zaile's selfish.  When my job is done, I'm going to ask Maelinn to come with me.  Zaile can keep stewing in his bitterness.  I don't care anymore, Lexx is more my brother than his.  I actually want him.'

  1. I didn’t think Riley knew Zaile was Lexx’s brother. That puts Riley’s suggestion to just tell Lexx the situation with the sister in the ADC in a slightly different light.
