"Hey, Lexx, what's on your mind?"  Chel grinned at the sense of deja-vu she received asking that question.  "You look like you're somewhere else again." "Chel.  I have to tell you something you're not going to like,"  The words spilled out of Lexx's mouth as he stared at the cat in the girl's arms.  Stealth was glaring back at him, ears back and tail twitching. He knew she wasn't going to cooperate.  He was just going to have to tell her himself, "I've been trying to tell you,… so don't stop me this time!" Chel stared at Lexx, wondering what had brought about this sudden desperate sounding outburst.  Stealth hissed, protesting over the relay, "No! No!  Stop, Lexx!!" 'Shut up, Stealth!'  Lexx shouted back at the cat.  Then he began to speak, his mouth moving, but the words passing over the relay to avoid shocking Chel or letting anyone hear exactly what was being said.  This was a bit private in Lexx's eyes.  This was not something he wanted everyone to know, lest they abuse Chel's relay. 'Stealth gave you a small self embedding nanomachine, which we refer to as a relay.  You were sleeping when she did it.  It's a communication device and completely harmless.  By now, … it's fully threaded through your brain and it can't be removed.  It's harmless,… -'  Lexx kept on speaking, his voice faltering as Chel's eyes widened considerably in a look of shock and disbelief. Chel heard most of what Lexx had to say.  A sharp coldness fell into the pit of her stomach, followed by what felt like, the air being knocked out of her.  She took a deep breath, trying to fight back the sense of suffocating.  Chel heard nothing else. She leaned forward to put Stealth down.  She was in shock and panicked.  The only thing Chel wanted was to be home, away from all this.  She wanted to be around everything familiar and nothing foreign.

  1. Puppy dog eyes not do shock and disbelief well.

  2. Hmm, now this is going to be quite a severe blow…because as of right now, she could make herself believe, that it was that ‘self-embedding nanomachine’, which causes her feelings by messing with her brain. That she’s been ‘tricked’ into staying.
