Day 24 Part 2

Chel had seen quite a few birds and other small creatures scurrying across the maze.  Several times, she had heard a squeaking sound and caught sight of one of the budgie otters pouncing on something and then racing off with their heads lifted high.  She never saw what it was they had caught, but whatever it was seemed plentiful.  Chel had also taken note of a very large gryphon like creature following them.  Occasionally, she saw it sitting on a hedge in the direction they were going, then it would fly off to another spot where it was obviously keeping an eye on them.  It made Chel uneasy.  She wasn’t sure if it was a wild animal or just a curious dice.  That one’s been following us since we left the Rishan town. Chel pondered telling Caillem several times, but it always flew further ahead when was about to ask.  She wasn’t sure just how much Caillem could see above the hedges. “Caillem.”  The dice finally stood in place on a nearby hedge that the small group were passing.  “Do you see that dice?”  Chel couldn’t think of anything else to call it. “That’s just Min.”  Caillem replied dismissively.  “He didn’t see anything important, but he’ll repeat everything he’s seen to Trasik.  He’s a featherbrain and not worth your time or attention.”  Caillem slowed down as they rounded a corner that opened up into the field that Chel remembered from earlier.  They had returned in a completely different place than they had left and Chel could see several figures on the far side of the field. “Unfortunately, it appears that Trasik is waiting for you and she’s going to want to hear from you where you’ve been.”  Caillem stopped walking for a moment to look back at Chel as she spoke.  “Just tell her you were on a little stroll and chatted with some of Riley’s friends who wanted to make sure that you were okay.” Caillem did not wait for Chel to respond, swinging her head forward again and walking toward Trasik ahead of Chel.

  1. sounds easy enough but what if Trasik says something to Chel that makes her furious enough to make her say something bad, like where she really was?

  2. It’s not lying it’s just not giving specifics. <__>

Oh my gosh! People in the background! Those are the first I’ve seen OUTSIDE, I was beginning to think there was a law against it or something. 🙂

  3. That makes sense
It isn’t going to backfire. There is no way it is going to backfire. Chel will win. There is NOT going to be yet another plot twist. Trasik is too stupid for that. It will end happily and nothing will go wrong.

    1. I wouldn’t be too sure…. Trasik has proven that she is a crazy relentless alien lady. This could end up being a less-than-pleasant experience for our hero and geroine.

    2. Hehe…as someone who has read ahead I am honestly sad I couldn’t see your face when this plot line “resolves..”

  4. If I were Chel here, I would substitute the truthful phrase of ‘Riley’s friends’ with something like ‘Lexx’s fans’ or something similar.
