Riley’s smile faded abruptly.
“I’m sure they know and they’re not happy about it.” Riley slid his hands into his pockets and swayed uncomfortably on the balls of his feet. “But this is Trasik. She’s the only girl in the family.” He sighed. ”She gets special privileges.”
My daughter's been sick since early Monday morning - and I FORGOT to FINISH the rest of this week's updates. :( Sorry about that. Now that she's recovering, I will hopefully finish and update sometime tomorrow or on Thursday at the latest. For now.. I'm going to get a good night's sleep so I don't make a ton of mistakes.

Ah… In my experience being the only girl means only that you are the one who gets in trouble when the boys do something retarded… but maybe that’s just my family…

Girls ALWAYS get special privileges. Especially if there is only one and if the only parent is the Father. Fathers just can’t say “no” to their little girls. That’s not fair! Moms can say “no” to their little boys. >:(

If I remember correctly, aren’t the Littan a matriarchal society? Girls are slightly larger and stronger than the boys, tend to be more aggressive and all that? And family and lineage I think are also supposed to be really important to the Littan. Which means Trasik’s human equivalent would be something like an Earth family of nobility having a bunch of girls and only one male heir to carry on the family name. That would grant special treatment.

Hey, I don’t get special privileges because I’m a girl. I get special privileges because my brother in a jerk who doesn’t know how to manipulate *cough cough* I mean reason with our parents. Of course they’re going to side with me if he’s always mocking me (even while I stick up for him) and shouting at them.
