Chel nodded slowly, her face contorting for a moment with sadness. She sniffed and looked down at Lexx again, wiping the back of her hand over her eyes. “I’ll be back later, Lexx, even if you don’t know I’m here.”
“I’ll know.” Lexx’s chest heaved in the effort to speak and his lips moved as thought he were trying to say more. Chel turned away to follow Riley, Kade and her father as several doctors walked by pushing a cart in front of them with several gleaming and sharp tools visible under the corner of a small white cloth. Chel grimaced, trying not to imagine what they were going to do to Lexx and then wondering how they could do anything with his nanites constantly working to heal him.

Hum. There are no visible wings. I wonder if not having wings will make it easier for Vic.

His wings have been reduced in size to tiny winglets on his back to maintain structure and save energy.

The nanites aren’t working right now Chel, so they’ll have no trouble cutting him open and operating. Then when they get them up and running they wont have to close, because the nanites will seal him up. ^_^
