Day 24 Part 4 Page 8

“They’re going to get away with all of this?”  A wave of realization and horror washed over Chel as what Kade and Riley were discussing sunk in. “Yes.”  Kade sighed. “Unless Trasik’s already dead.”  Riley suggested quickly. “Your mother would kill me if I delivered that message.”  Kade grumbled. “You let Trasik get away with-“  Riley scowled in the direction of his father, still annoyed that it was Trasik who had just ruined his plan of getting Lexx out of the game.  How could she mess everything up without even being there?  This was all her fault. “Riley.”  Kade immediately shut down his son’s statement.  “There is a time and a place and they are not now or here.”  Riley went silent, clenching his jaw tightly to avoid saying anything further.

  1. Lol, this is going to be funny. Now they use the mimic to get Trasik back.
Course it’ll probably be a mimic and they’ll walk away happy. However if the ADC does give up Trasik she takes a sniper round to the head as their walking to the car. Either way Riley loses.

    1. I think that an escape by Trasik and Kane might put a damper on those theories. And there are other possibilities that aren’t so harsh.

    2. Um – I doubt they’d do either. Whatever they hand over will be examined for the purpose of making sure its not a mimic, and releasing her only to have her shot would guarantee Kade and family would bring action against them – ADC does not need the headache, they’re having enough trouble covering as it is. Besides, Trasik likes the Game too much to bring the ADC down, and without her testimony the case goes to hell if they try to roll with it and she’s alive.

  2. I still don’t see the downside.

    1. Father just lost his only daughter, his oldest child, and probably legal heir. Said daughter is probably going to be mistreated for the rest of her life. She might have been mean, but no one deserves what the ADC is probably going to do.
I really hope that Chel’s dad comes up with a good plan and then everybody’s all like “We love humans!”
Also, in exchange for having technology advance more quickly, did aliens not go as fast in other areas like art? It was kind of obvious from the party that the music is similar to 18th and 19th century style because more modern music doesn’t have the tempo or rhythm for the things Chel was being taught (also the fact that there are several hundred newer dance moves that you can’t do in clothes that formal). The clothing throughout the comic has been in the same style as is in many period dramas (“doesn’t she know it’s in style to wear a cloak?”, flowy fabric, I haven’t yet see a woman other than Chel wearing an outfit with pants except for people who were working) and so are a few of the unspoken rules regarding privacy (pictures were not generally displayed, general avoidance of asking questions that are TOO personal)
So yeah in summary, IMO Trasik doesn’t deserve what’s coming to her and I was wondering if humans have progressed farther than aliens in certain areas.

      1. @Warpcorps, you’re confusing progress with change. Maybe galactic culture is not in as steep a decline as “Western” culture on earth.

      2. @ Warpcorps: I’m a firm believer in reap what you sow. Trasik has been a pain and a b-word for so long. She’s entitled to a little mistreatment. It might knock some scene into her!

  3. It’s a relief to have an adult involved who actually knows what is going on. I’m liking Kade more each strip.

  4. Hopefully nobody thinks the adults are swooping in to save everyone – they’re more likely to work better, but they still need the young adults to work together.

    1. Actually, it seems like Kade is stepping in to make sure nobody dies. It doesn’t seem like he can handle all the other problems without a lot more ammunition than what he’s got right now.

    2. To me, is seems like Kade is doing a good job. If this were up to just Riley and Chel, then it’d be up to Riley and he’s proven that that might not be the greatest idea. Kade and Vic are doing a good job, and I’m glad. Chel, Riley, and Lexx have had enough drama.

  5. how funny I just used those words recently

  6. @Warpcorps

You said it yourself, ” I haven’t yet see a woman other than Chel wearing an outfit with pants except for people who were working” Wearing impractical outfits is a status system, like we use pale skin in sunny areas, or tanned skin in areas where people are generally pale.
People too poor for vacation (or tanning salons) will get what the work gives them.

Women wear rings for the same reason, to give off the impression that they are too well off to work with their hands. We have a million little ways of displaying status that we are no longer aware of, men have always worked, for women it is not only a matter of rights and liberation. It started with a necessity because of ww2.

Most aliens we met are rich, insanely so, they hold slaves to do the labour, of course their fashion is different. the society is different, we no longer hold slaves, when we did the ones doing so were a lot more dignified than the ones more common. folk-dancing has in general been wilder than the dances in the higher society, and still is.

and to say that modern music is lacking the tempo or rhythm? I recently got married, our wedding waltz was a classical waltz danced to a song released five years ago. My friends danced tango to a lot of new music. I danced the bug in my wedding dress (a quite bulky affair)
it has to do with skill and creativity and most music no matter how modern or old have only three or four beat rhythm.

“pictures were not generally displayed, general avoidance of asking questions that are TOO personal” it is still considered polite in a lot of countries, French culture and Swedish culture are very different from say.. each other and American or English.. in America the culture about what to say or not varies from state to state.

My point is that advancement does not have to follow a certain pattern it depends on what history have forced upon them, and how they choose to adapt to it.
On earth women’s liberation movement got help from the need of labour during the war. one without the other might have made our society look different

  7. The fact that Trasik agreed to anything not evil should have been a tipoff.
