Day 24 Part 4 Page 9

“How do you know that?!”  Chel screeched at Riley.  “He said they were working on him and you promised-“  She turned her gaze to Kade, who know had her full attention. “Chel, please,”  Kade lifted a hand to stop her from continuing before he had time to explain.  “The prognosis is not good.” “The dagger that the mimic stabbed Lexx with was specially prepared just for him.”  Riley stepped forward, “It contained a virus that we have no record of how to cure.  It poisons nanites and makes them malfunction.”  Chel stared at him as he spoke, her eyes widening with each word as the reality of the situation began to fully sink in.  They had not told Lexx everything.

  1. This is soo going to b sad if he does die :'(

  2. no lexx can’t die!!! he just said that he loved her in public!!!

  3. Keep in mind that he has a surprising amount of strength and resilience, being able to operate many levels above his actual side, not to mention a soul echo and the programmed personality. Who knows… maybe the “corrupt programming” personality will corrupt the poison?

  4. I wonder if Chel will go to Lexx over the relay again… I have a feeling that if she tells him what’s going on and more importantly, that she doesn’t want him to die, he’ll survive through sheer power of will. Also, I wonder if this nanite killing poison could destroy what they did to make Lexx a dice? If he’s no longer a dice he wouldn’t have to play the game anymore, he’d be free. Of course he’d also be free if he died but that would be to depressing 🙁

  5. Since Lexx “rolls sides”, could he revert to die form? Sure, it’s back to level 1, but it’s better than losing the girl he loves.

  6. If the poison was especially designed for Lexx, maybe a transfusion – from Chel? When a mother gives birth, millions of stem cells from the mother are transferred to the baby. When things go wrong, the maternal stem cells step into the gap. For example, a babies defective heart valve grew back to normal – the new valve was formed from maternal stem cells. Everyone still has remnants of their mothers DNA, about 50 thousand cells.

Occasionally, people have significant amounts of foreign DNA from either their mother, or a non-identical twin that was absorbed. This often leads to grave injustice in a legal system that is ignorant of the limitations of DNA testing. A mother applied for welfare, and instead they took her kids away “because they weren’t hers” after DNA testing – despite sworn testimony by her husband and obstetrician who both witnessed the kids being born. Eventually, (after stealing 4 years of their childhood), she got her kids back because a prominent doctor proved that 50% of her body, including her ovaries, had the DNA of a twin absorbed before birth. So she was basically giving birth to her dead sisters kids. There are many more stories, but space is limited.

  7. Well maybe those active nanites her dad got earlier will fix it or the earth made versions from revers-engineering those will save the day?

  8. @Elfguy, the nanites are malfunctioning due to the virus (which in this case underscores the equivalence of software and biological viruses). Otherwise, the dagger wound would have been repaired by now.

  9. I can’t believe that these highly advanced aliens can’t preform a nanite blood transfusion. Or just hit him with an EMP. Or even a nanite that eats other nanites. This is science fiction, the possibilities are endless!

  10. which bring up the question of why the mimic originaly tride to use it on Chel?

  11. This isn’t good.

Though Lexx has certain things going for him that might help him. He’s tough when he’s determine, his dies isn’t quite like the other dice players for some strange reason that makes him stronger then a side should, he has to beings in his head with their own objectives, then he has his adopted daughter and her strange only rarely seen powers.

Anything could happen to Lexx, even him dying for a brief couple of minutes. Though with more problems building up, ADC can ask for more. They practically had Travik’s set up to take the blame if Riley didn’t preserve the Mimics body, Lexx is dying, and we know Riley and his dad have been a thorn in their side for some time.

  12. This seems like an overly-elaborate ADC plot to me. It seems like they took way too much time on this, and people who spend that much time overlook the little stuff. Such a great big plot on universal TV must have some big flaw, right? Or even some little flaw that will allow an awesome comeback?

  13. I agree with RGC, what about the active nanite that thye got from Lexx’s blood? Couldn’t they clear out all of the infected nanites and use the one that was still working from his blood, and copy that one?
