“I’m not going to be part of this.” Chel rose to her feet, shaking her head slowly. “I-“
“Am I interrupting?” Riley’s voice cut through the conversation like a knife, completely draining it of its direction and he knew it. “We can come back later.” It wasn’t just Riley. His father was standing next to him, watching the scene curiously. They had not been there for long, but long enough to understand what was going on.
“No, we were just discussing arrangements when we return to Earth.” Vic put it in the nicest terms he could think of, not wanting to get into this conversation and details that he wasn’t completely sureon himself.
“We are on our way back to Earth now.” Kade nodded slowly, then set his eyes on Chel. “Chel, if you want to see Lexx, he’s resting.”

So we go from “He’s dying of some horrible poison that not even our advanced technology can remove without difficulty” to “He’s resting.” 0.o?

He is dying, very slowly and very painfully, from a poison that is attacking the nanites that replaced his immune system.
In the meantime, the uninfected nanites are still trying to heal the damage that the infected ones are causing.
His body is, quite literally, being torn apart and rebuilt. And it’s already been established that while the nanites can put him back together – they don’t do anything for the pain during that process.
I don’t think there’s a person alive who could endure that without needing to rest as much as possible.
