Day 26 Part 3 Pg 16

“Oh!”  Keith slapped the side of his face in realization.  This was HIS world.  He was the one in control and he just had to take that control back.  Keith stopped running and turned around to the sight of a very large forepaw coming for him.  “Impress to me!”  Keith lifted his right hand and he stepped forward. The dragon immediately pulled back its forepaw, holding it in the air as though torn between the desire to squish a human, eat him whole, or make friends. Keith was really hoping for the making friends part.

  1. Now shake his paw …er, claw …tip. And conjure up an extra-large, heavy- duty rake so you can scratch him behind the ears.

    1. That, and if it works and he doesn’t become dragon chow, a really big shovel to clean up the secondary stage of dragon chow. 😀

  2. It’s his “world” shrink it down to dog size instead !

  3. Ah, the Pern variant… I guess most Westerners are more familiar with it than the Chinse faith in reasonably friendly dragons in charge of the forces of nature – or the more recent works like Eragon or Elric where the dragons were battle partners.

    1. I loved the Dragon Riders of Pern books

    2. Problem with the Pern theory is that there aren’t any red dragons on Pern. Gold, Bronze, Copper, Blue, Green, and the extremely rare White. No Red…

And to my eyes, the dragon’s expression in the last panel looks more like a “Are you KIDDING me?!?” kinda look. That or “WTFO?!?“.

      1. Ruth isn’t ‘rare’, Ruth is ‘unique’. He was a poorly formed dragonet who, under normal circumstances, shouldn’t have hatched. Not that I don’t love the small dragon, but those ARE the facts. And when I was looking at this I was thinking more ‘Pit Dragon Trilogy’ than ‘Dragonriders of Pern’.

    3. Thank you! I recognized the saying but could not remember the source.

  4. I can’t always use the same dragon types. 😉

  5. love the dragon i wonder why it was acting like that?
man imagining what Keith can do in his world is endless and with his imagination bet he will come up with all sort of ideas!

like this is just a thought he might try for his world like imagining the people to be complex like the dragon ah it be so cool if some of the people in his mind are people he met and remember in his life memories alive! ah! must stop imagining now! sorry!!!!
i just thought with the animals being so complex and alive like in his mind i bet the people who live in the city of his imagination can be just as complex as well like an virtual intelligence you can interact with….”shutting up now!… >///x///<."

    1. The animals work because they are not necessarily aware, just functioning on the instincts he believes they would have.
If he actually created “real” people (meaning sentient individuals, even if they only exist in his relay space), then we’d be getting into multiple personality disorder: each one would have to be an aspect of himself, broken off and given it’s own consciousness.
This is not normally considered a good thing, so he prolly shouldn’t try to make people. Now, if he ends up with multiple personalities or a ghost in his mind like Lex, then they’d have a decent space to live already prepared!

  6. Shouldn’t that rather be “Imprint on me!”?
