Meanwhile, a few other members of ERA were watching the interview on a tv in a small lounge. For the time being, they were just killing time waiting for the next round of evidence gathering to begin.
Mel Reid was among them, slowly stirring a cup of coffee and watching the cream swirl into a half cup of liquid energy. She had been spending all of her time in the offices, unable and unwilling to leave until her husband and daughter returned.
The family farm was too far away to easily see Andrea and Kalvin. She was thinking about them now. As soon as Vic and Chel returned and were cleared, Mel hoped they would be able to take a few weeks off. It was wishful thinking. There would be work to do. Work they’d waited a lifetime to begin.
Mel sipped her coffee, watching as the talk show went to commercials. Korbaen and Kane would be ushered to the waiting vehicles by now and sent on their way to the next show. This one wasn’t live, but being recorded for late night. Everyone would likely stay up to watch that one too.
The calm was suddenly shattered by a fumbling at the sliding glass doors to the lounge. Mel looked up to see one of her lab assistants, Abbie, trying unsuccessfully to open the door. She was new to the agency and an easily excitable young woman. She also stood out among the interns with her love of all things blue and multiple piercings. That’s why Mel had chosen her. She stood out.
“Mrs. Reid!” Abbie finally got the door to open after taking a step back and calmly flipping the clasp open. “Your husband and daughter are back and they brought another alien and a bunch of alien creatures!!”

I got the comics done!!! :D Now I need to get the text done, which WILL be current this week.
Kim's at home, so gotta figure out a good balance to work with her around. Unfortunately, she is very distracting if I try to work in the same room with her. :( I'll figure it out. There are three updates this week and there will be four updates next week. I will be attacking the full page archive again.

Forgive me for not having a ten year long photographic memory, but has ‘mom’ made an appearance before in the comic? They are going to be so disappointed once they find out the ‘alien’ is genetically just a blue skinned human with pointy ears.
Also, has the person in the last panel always had a fondness for blue everything, or is this part of a new fashion fad brought on by the appearance of the new blue ‘aliens’ and their ‘movie’? (nudge, nudge. wink, wink)
