Day 27 3 08

Epsy hung back a bit, waiting her turn.  Chel, Keith, and Mel were immediately crouching, trying to coax the babies to come to them.  The very act of going to their knees got the chicks attention.  The out of breath man collapsed onto the couch to catch his breath, seeing that he wasn’t really needed. Mel waved a piece of sausage at the chicks, getting the one that looked identical to Zeta to come to her.  Chel was cooing over a golden colored one and Keith was petting a blue one.  Swiftpaw cowered behind Keith, eyeing the chicks warily as one stared directly back at him. “Zeta, Epsy, sit.”  Lexx gave the duo a stern command as Epsy leaned toward him with her tongue lolling from her jaws.

  1. Mel (thinks): Baby animals! Instinctive and developing behaviour to study! Kinda cute, too! 🙂

Chel (thinks): You remind me of someone, little ginger!

Keith (thinks): Another pet for the collection! This is what ERA work should be about!

    Lexx (thinks): Nnnnngh! More trouble!

Vic (thinks): This is another containment issue that must be addressed…

Stealth (thinks): They’d better not try burrowing into my mane… or I’m going to see how my mousing skills have held up… 3:

    1. Actually, I’m sure that Stealth would grudgingly put up with the hatchlings climbing all over her.

Because I have a bookmark with an image that shows them doing just that, which I think was made from a wallpaper or prior image.

  2. The dice creatures have been imbued with various types of ADC ‘code’ in order to give them sentience and a variety of combat powers (activated as they level-up from base form). Has it been officially stated whether the offspring of a dice would also be sentient and/or have powers?

  3. I just did an archive dive to find this one in 2008 that says:
Riley explained: “The resulting babies of two dice are not dice bonded. Sometimes they will retain attributes of their parents that are not natural, but they are just animals and forbidden from being bonded to a dice.” http://aliendice.com/blog/comic/07302008/

Wow, a six year incubation period, no wonder dice don’t breed that often.

The current in-story day is ’27’. What was the story date of when they were laid?
