Fifteen minutes later, Vic was still letting the words sink in. Epsy and Zeta left when the conversation begin at Epsy’s somewhat worried urging. The chicks and their handlers went with them. Sirius, Serenity, Stealth, and Swiftpaw gathered around the humans, offering a sympathetic presence.
“Lexx, I’m sorry.” Vic gave a heartfelt apology. “I didn’t realize- can we do anything?” The thought that things could get worse for Lexx than his initial situation had never occurred to him.
“No.” Lexx was quick to reject the offer. “Interference would make my situation worse.”
“Then we need to leave immediately.” Vic took a breath and made a decision. “Everyone knows you left last night.”
Lexx felt a rush of worried anger flood through his relay. “Lexx!” Chel snapped over it. Obviously, everyone did not include Chel.
“I came back.” Lexx grimaced, speaking aloud as the relay Chel faded from his thoughts. However, he was still staring at the real thing, who did not look very pleased.

To go with that, I've neglected to make the new buttons to put under the status, so I'll just put a link here. I set up a Give Forward campaign for her medical bills, of which, we still have plenty.
