Day 27 4 13

“I want to ask you something selfish, Chel.”  Lexx stopped a few feet from the edge of the pool, on a ledge of black rock. “Lexx?”  Chel stared at him uncertainly. Lexx took a step back and tugged at the bottom of his shirt.  Chel blinked as the shirt came off.  It wasn’t the first time she had seen Lexx shirtless, but given his current situation, she wasn’t sure where this was going. Not a word was spoken as Lexx slowly began unwrapping the bandage on his right arm.  Chel worked through what Lexx might be asking.  He was embarrassed about the scars on his wrist.  It was just his way to show how much he trusted her?

    *slowly grabs popcorn.*

    *slowly begins munching.*

  2. “I want to ask you something selfish, Chel.”

    “Lexx?”

Not a word was spoken as he began to unwrap the bandages on his right arm. “Chel, will you lick my scars away with your healing saliva?”

    “WHAT. Who told you… RILEY!”

Chel fumed as she stormed away, finding Riley watching with a giggling Maelinn. Riley looked up at her, and swallowed his popcorn. “Well? Are you going to heal him, or not?” He smiled innocently.

  3. I’ve always been confused – wouldn’t the nanites do away with the scars?

    1. Nope, they actually cause them to be worse, because there’s no time to close wounds, they just heal.

      1. Uhmmmm…. isn’t healing technically closing the wound? If it isn’t, that’s some weird definition of “healing”

Eh. I’m pretty sure faster healing would result in less scars since the nanites would intervene before the fibroblasts go crazy dumping their cross-linked collagen everywhere.

And besides, even if scarring did occur, super-healing would make it so easy to perform scar removal procedures!!! Think about how much a cinch it would be for superficial laser removal and immediate healing as opposed to having to hide from the sun being careful not to use certain lotions and all that annoying jazz.

        1. You go to a doctor to suture your wounds closed, even small ones, so they heal faster and cleaner. Closing the wound means bringing the edges together to make less area to heal. If you don’t close it, there’s more area left open to heal, causing scarring. Nanites heal from the inside out on wounds, meaning skin is the last part to heal. Since there’s no time to close the wounds to minimize scarring, he scars.

Also, skin doesn’t grow back in the same weave pattern. 😀

        2. People go to doctors to get sutures? Huh.

  4. Swimming… let there be swimming!

    1. Swimming means I don’t have to draw body parts!

  5. is there a ring coming?

  6. “Will you be on my side in the splash-fight Damien and Claudia have agreed to have with me?”

  7. Well, this is not what I expected.

  8. “Will you spell check my new tattoo?”
