Hours later, Dash was panting heavily and sore. There was only one ostrich left. The others had given Dash the run around, literally. Now Dash was focused. He was in top form. And he was almost completely exhausted. His head pounded sharply from being out in the sunlight for over two hours and he desperately wanted a drink.
The little ostrich showed no signs of being tired. Dash laid down a moment, wings slightly raised off the ground. The other dice nipped at his tail. Dash didn't respond. As though aggravated by not getting a reaction, the ostrich trotted around to Dash's head and snapped his beak boldly onto Dash's sensitive nose.
With a final burst of energy, Dash slapped his forepaws out and slapped them tightly around the ostrich. It didn't vanish. It did struggle, hiss and turn its neck around to snap at him. "Lexx!!" Dash howled.
"You definitely took your time, Dash!" Lexx grumbled hurrying over to Dash. He wanted out of here just as badly as Dash did. This little battle was supposed to take half an hour at the most. Now he had left Chel on the Rift for all that time alone. Well, she did have the dice, but Lexx wasn't there.
