Back on Earth, several creatures moved through the darkness. They loped in an unusual way and their movements were accompanied with small yipping sounds that sounded like eerie laughing. Then there were more of them. They were converging for a hunt and the sounds rose in volume across the savannah. Herds of antelope and zebra shifted about nervously, flicking their tails and hurriedly moving away from the sound. The lions roaring in the distance over a fresh kill had ceased and a strange silence beneath the laughing covered the land. Then, a creature larger than the others appeared. They shifted, making way for her impressive form. She was a hyena, just like all of them and had been the established alpha of a much smaller clan, but she had dominated several other clans, including one that she had to kill the alpha of to establish herself. Now, when they made kills, no animal dared to challenge them. The big female had sabertooth fangs, retractable claws and the ability to move in ways that kept her running circles around the lions that attempted to steal from them. Tonight,… was going to be a special night. She was going to lead a mob against the resident lions and completely wipe them out. Tonight, was the night. "This is a wondrous world. Except for the thieving lions." The dice bonded hyena growled, stalking through the mass of hyenas. "Until I got here, they were stealing almost every kill. Now, we have driven them into the fringe of the valley." "It is my plan to harass the lions completely out of the valley!" She growled, looking over her little army. They thought they were going to hunt, but their leader had other ideas in mind. "Deny them their kills! Starve them away! This is MY Land now and I have so many willing minions to assist in claiming it!"

  1. …Fluffy? Honestly? That thing is called ‘Fluffy’? Well, one shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover, right? Or rather…it’s name 😉

  2. Wait, I thought the hyenas where the thieves…

    1. Actually no; that was media/Disney portrayal. Hyenas are actually the primary hunters of the Savannah and its the lions that are opportunistic.

      1. I thought like KM that Hyenas were opportunists more than hunters, so I looked it up. Per Wikipedia, Spotted Hyenas may kill 95% of animals they eat, while Striped Hyenas are largely scavengers; both are likely to chase larger predators (like Lions) from their kills. We were all right, with a little bit of being wrong.

  3. BE PREPAAAARRREEED!
