Galaxies away, Lexx’s image, even in his sleep, was being broadcast as clearly as if someone were in the same room. One of those watching was Andisel, the rishan woman who ran the ADC. She sat on a plush couch in one of the ‘common’ rooms on her ship, watching thoughtfully. The room had been cleared of everything moveable, except for two couches. Andisel was expecting company. “He is an attractive male specimen.” The rishan female smiled thoughtfully to herself. “I might have to acquire him for my personal collection, … if he survives.” It was common practice for a player who was particularly skilled to be retired and purchased for use in breeding. Most were happy with such arrangements and treated well, but Andisel had a suspicion that Lexx would not settle as easily as the others. Lexx had been too old when he was brought into the ADC. But if he were in their possession again, any children he sired would easily be brought up with the rules and conditioning that would make for more easily handled fighters. This was the change that Andisel was moving the company toward. More players who were carefully bred from existing players and fewer outside children brought into the system. There had been too many risks taken in the past when Andisel’s mother had run the company. Andisel’s methods ensured more players who survived bonding and less lawsuits should they pick up a child, such as Lexx, who ended up having living relations. Fortunately for the ADC, Lexx’s relations were not aware of his circumstances until long after the time had elapsed for them to be able to file a claim for him. Unfortunately, a very annoying Littan was in the process of changing the laws. Another reason Andisel was cutting down on the children being picked up. A few exceptional children here and there, but no more orphanage raids and agents retrieving children from starships by force. “It would be a shame to lose his genetics.” Andisel was troubled by everything she had read about Lexx. He was perfectly obedient and at the same time rebellious. He had studied his contract. The majority of students never bothered to read them, depending on what they were told. It made them easily to manipulate, but Lexx, he knew his rights and he never hesitated to hide behind them. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Repeating some information for you, Andrew. ;)

  1. “A very annoying littan…”

I think we all know who she’s talking about.
