"Is there any way that doesn't end in destroying the eggs?"  Chel asked.  "How's Epsy going to take it if you do that?"  Images of an enraged Epsy roared through Chel's thoughts, taking the place of cute, fat baby versions of Epsy and Zeta.
"She's an animal, Chel."  Riley replied.  "Zeta's too dumb to realize he's even a father or make any connection to them.  She disobeyed a well known rule among dice, either willfully or the same reason and I fail to believe that she is as dim as Zeta is."
"I don't want you to kill them."  Chel persisted.
Neither of them were aware that their conversation was being listened to by an involved party.  Zeta was walking down to the balcony from one of the side balconies.  He had stopped when he heard his name, curious about what was going on.  What he heard was astonishing.
He had been sleeping the entire night in a room that had been set aside for the dice.  He knew nothing about the events of the night before and now he was hearing two words which he put together in their simplest terms.
Zeta - Father.   Lexx - Father.  That was what Maenae called Lexx.  Did Zeta have little Maenaes?  It baffled him.  His mind slowly turned it over.  He knew about the nest.  He knew about the eggs.  The eggs were Epsy's and somehow, Zeta had something to do with it.  He wasn't sure what, but he did recall the accusations from Stealth about Epsy, eggs and Zeta.
His mind was slow, but things began to slowly click into place.
