Fly darted out of the alley and into the road.  He could hear a thunderous sound bearing down on him and lunged forward quickly thinking that it was Stealth, even though it was coming from the side and not behind him. The cat lunged out after Fly, her full attention on pinning Fly down and her frustration numbing her other senses. The last thing Stealth remembered was a brilliant flash of light bearing down on her and a horrible screeching sound mingled in with her own shriek of surprise and pain.  She went rolling as the much larger object ran into her. 'No! No!'  Chel was just close enough to see it happen.  A truck had been going down the side road a little too fast and didn't stop in time.  She saw Stealth go down and a lump rose in her throat, bringing with it the stinging sensation of sudden tears and shock. She ran the rest of the way, not even feeling the sharp rocks against her bare feet.  And she prayed that the cat hadn't been killed.  Chel stopped on the sidewalk, seeing Stealth's tails twitching suddenly. Then, with a choking breath, Stealth swung herself upright, swayed and stood.  She was obviously in pain, her head held low and dripping a few drops of blood onto the pavement below.  The large cat wobbled, the fur along her tail and back rising, then she turned toward the truck's bright lights, snarling and hissing at the lights and the 'thing' that had struck her. The grill was twisted and hood dented up.  Stealth ached all over, but the pain focused her onto a new enemy,… the truck.
