Everyone quietly watched as Lexx left. Even Maenae stopped crying to stare in stunned silence.
“Wait here, I’ll be right back!” Chel couldn’t let him just walk away. She had to convince him that staying here was in his best interest. She chased after him, hoping that she could catch him before he left and got off his ship.
Chel assumed that if he were really angry, he would go straight to his ship and not give her a moment to say anything. If he were not, and she realized it was very possible, then he was just trying to get her alone with him.
Keith, Victor and Riley were left behind, along with all the dice. None of them had the desire to follow and meddle. Even Stealth had wearied of what was going on … and Maenae’s screeching had resumed, which was hurting their ears.
“What did I miss?” Keith whispered to Victor.
Victor shrugged. He had his arms folded across his chest tightly as though he were restraining himself from following. He had to trust Chel.
Help … Riley just stood there, confused about what do with the screaming child and two humans.
