The Wyvern's heads snapped up, their attention fully on Lexx as he hovered just at their height. They stared at him, as though discussing between themselves which one would take the first snap. Lexx sighed and swung his fist. Several balls of golden energy shot out of his hand and struck the larger head. It recoiled and shook violently, but after a moment, it was clear the energy had done nothing more than irritate it. The second head snarled and after a moment's indecision, snapped at Lexx. Lexx knew it was coming. The beast was moving ponderously slow and already boring him. This battle was going to be easy. The fact that it was going to be so easy was worrisome. Then, both heads of the dice snaked to the sides and swayed back and forth. Their jaws spread in unison and a golden light formed deep within their throats. Lexx flung his arms out, shouting, "Shield!" A transparent globe formed around Lexx, just in time to prevent two separate blasts of flame from hitting him. It wasn't a strong shield, but it did its job. Flames licked harmlessly along the exterior of the shield and changed from red to gold to white. The shield wavered. "This isn't going to hold ..." Lexx scowled, feeling his height slowly dropping. The heat was keeping the globe buoyed, but it was also causing the field to begin shimmering and rippling around him.
