“Use your best judgment when you do write your report, Keith, I will… and I expect the same from you, Chel.” Vic slowly turned his gaze to his daughter. “I have to write a report?” Chel winced at the thought. It was still summer. The last thing she wanted was to be stuck writing a report for her father. “One for every day since you met Lexx.” Vic added. “And I expect it to be detailed and thorough." The look Vic gave Chel was clear. He knew Chel had held back some details when she had explained what was going on at the house and was giving her an opportunity to come clean. “Everything?” Chel glanced aside uncomfortably. There were things she knew she should never mention and perhaps a few small things she could add that she had glossed over. Her father didn’t know fully what he was asking, but Chel was certain that it wasn’t Victor Reed, her father, who was asking for this information, but Victor Reed, Alien Investigator. “Everything.” Vic nodded seriously.

  1. Well, considering she’s not part of their military program, she doesn’t HAVE to. She’s not reporting back to anyone. And she’s pretty much told him everything anyway. :chuckle: Way to be intrusive Vic!

  2. Ditto – why does Chel ‘have to’ write a report? Is her dad going to have her arrested if she doesn’t?

    1. You don’t really use the word “arrested” for a clandestine agency like the one Vic works for. “Disappeared” or even “drafted” could be more accurate.

But there’s no need to go that far. Vic is her dad. He can just ground her until she does her new chore.

  3. *grins* Pretty sure daddy dearest is expecting something more along the lines of the kissing…
He’s going to have a lot of fun with the “Well, first I shot him” and probably explode somewhere around “And then my cat set me up with a relay and didn’t tell me…apparently THAT might have killed me, but it didn’t.”

  4. A detailed report of every day? It’s a good thing someone has been creating a web comic about the whole thing. All Chel needs to do is look at the archives in case she forgets anything.

I wonder what Vic would do if he found out there is a 24/7 Lexx-o-vision channel on the ADC network, and lately he’s been on it.

  5. I’d leave out quite a few”details”, like the Relay.

Best for Vic not to know that. Also I don’t think chel HAS to write a report, I mean, as other people have said, she doesn’t work for her Dad.

  6. You’ll find out on Monday. 😀

  7. Awe man, If I know I had to write a journal I would have been taking notes..

Looks like Chel has become an honorary MIB Agent..

    1. She’s a GIB

      1. As sudden as it is, would she be an insta-GIB?

  8. Just give him the tablet. That has all of the relevant information minus the details she shouldnt say.

  9. In this respect, remember that her father is also a government employee serving in an official capacity… as Chel is a citizen under said government, there may be legal issues involved that give Vic de facto authority beyond his position as a father.

In this case, he’s giving Chel the opportunity to write her own report; the alternative would likely be that he would need to interview her, and possibly even interrogate her if the answers are not complete enough.

…or at least that’s how it seems from this angle.

    1. Chel is established as a student in college – I can’t remember if her exact age is listed…but if she’s in college, she’s no longer a minor. It’s very likely that Vic would not be permitted to be the one to “interview” her in a more formal setting – as her father, he’d be too invested in her. Because she’s not a child, there’s no assurance he’d even be permitted to observe. Chel’d really be acting in her own best interest to go ahead and write out her story for her dad.

      1. Yup – otherwise they might bring someone else in.

        1. Either way, I’m pretty sure a physical might be part of the procedure if it comes to an interview process… and unless the relay is just a slight reconfiguration of the neurotransmitters, it will likely be detected in a cat scan. Then there will likely be an extraction and study of the device.

  10. controlling army dad treating his kid like one under his command…
itd would only be fiitting for chel to use this rich opportunity for winding him up to spite him.

  11. Her Fathe looks evil in the last panal, and what ever happend to the dice eggs?

  12. … and then Lexx puked because the idea of eating something from an actual animal instead of a machine is revolting to him. After we cleaned that mess up…

  13. Hmmmm…those reports are going to be a little disheartening to some most likely.

Even with quite a bit of detail, they’ll most likely only see that the universe out there isn’t much better then their own planet and governments. Though I would think even Vic would agree that the ADC needs to go.

The only concerns for reporting the Relay would be how her parents react and how other groups of the earths government react. While her parents might have parental concerns, I’d be more concerned if special interests groups take interest in the actual tech in her head. That Relay would probably be several centuries ahead of anything earth has.

    1. Vic KNOWS there are things that Chel has not mentioned. It’s a parent thing. You just KNOW. But one thing that will not happen, is that there is no way that Chel will let anyone know about the Relay and it’s best that she not. That’s something even Vic does NOT want to know, but he doesn’t know he doesn’t want to know. 😀

  14. If I was Chel, I’d write a very superficial report and if he keeps coming back for details go with “my memory’s all blurry”.
Wouldn’t be the first time that this happened, I bet.
It IS none of his business, after all, and she would have complied to his wishes, too. (He DID even explicitly say, he’d expect her to use her best judgment, when writing the report… :D)
