Chel took a deep breath and walked into the room with the little girl. There were three older children in the room. Two identical kourwine boys sat on a couch recessed into the wall reading dataplates. They had short brown hair and were dressed in purple uniforms. Chel noted that while the sizes were different, all four children were wearing the same color and design. Obviously the uniforms were meant as a way to easily classify the wearer. Chel’s mind wondered to what the color of uniform she was in meant. They had not passed anyone else wearing one like hers. They’re all … kids. I thought they would be older. Chel mused as her eyes traveled to the last kid, a rishan girl with violet skin and pale purple hair She was sitting with her back to Chel, staring through a horizontal slit in the wall that allowed a view of the passing stars. The two boys and girl appeared to be much older than the little girl, who was now standing a foot away from Chel looking at her curiously. What am I going to do with a bunch of kids?

  1. Oh, I wouldn’t underestimate children if I were you…what they’re lacking in the physical department, they make up in means of endurance, energy…and innovation. Children can be very resourceful…and often their limited size is actually a help instead of a burden.

    1. I quite agree. Children are remarkably good at being troublesome.

      Even moreso when on purpose.
