"Mel, the board understood what happened.  We've been trying to obtain a specimen or at least a sample for years."  Vic scowled.  If his daughter had not been brought up, things would likely have turned out differently.  "They keep on using our planet for tests and abusing us in far worse ways -" "I know, but we can't let our zeal cost us contact with the ones who actually want to talk to us." Mel's words were a bit harsh, but her tone wasn't.  "It is likely he is important and not some wandering space tourist."  In Mel's mind, if they had the ability to travel through space, they had some reason for being here and most likely, common 'aliens' wouldn't be coming to a planet that had not developed any sort of interstellar travel. Every sign of alien life they had encountered in their years in the unit had pointed to aliens doing research.  They had numerous accounts of abductions, some legitimate, most had other sources. They spent a lot of time debunking the fakes and working through the problems of those who had legitimate stories. "Next time,"  Mel sank into the corner chair and pressed her hand to her temples, "We just let them go, no argument.  Desperation is no excuse." "Easier said than done."  Vic drummed his fingers on the desk.  "I hope Chel is safe, but we have to know everything soon.  We don't know what they're doing to her." And that, worried him the most.

  1. And… watch it cut away to a scene of Chel having fun or relaxing on the beach or something.

  2. Well you know she is in love with one of the aliens. so I’m sure Vic also has the normal father reaction of “what is he doing to her” along with the alien hunter reaction of “what are they doing to her”
