In the real world, Karmine had also turned away from them. She walked quickly across the room to a closed door. It slid open the moment she was a foot away. Karmine didn’t wait for it to open all the way, slipping inside and stating, “Lock door.” The door closed behind her with a clicking sound. Karmine stood in the doorway for a moment, staring down at her feet. Her heart was racing with panic and she felt nauseous. A knot pulled tightly in her stomach. Karmine shakily walked to her bed and knelt before it. Then, she leaned forward and tried to choke back the oncoming tears. She couldn’t be seen like this. Not by anyone. How dare that human make her act like this.

  1. Darn it! Here I was gonna say she needs a hug, but I sorta kinda feel almost really guilty about saying it.

    1. She did need a hug. The problem is that she has been conditioned to be afraid of close contact.
