“What do you mean… undoing?” Kade asked the question that was sitting on Chel’s lips.
What do you think I mean, child? The grey’s response seemed tinged with annoyance. Chel kept her thoughts to herself, clearing her mind of a sudden snappy comment. The grey had spoken to her in what had been a very polite and kind manner.
“Are you undoing the dice code?” Riley inquired as respectfully as he could.
We are correcting it. The grey nodded slowly, the black lid covering his eye shifting back a fraction of an inch to show the edge of a golden iris below. The lid snapped back over the eye and he turned aside frowning. We had intended to do so before this occurred. Our gifts have been abused and we are rectifying that error. He bowed his head and mouthed actual words even though they were not really spoken. The code was vile.

They must have loaded him with Windows Vista.
Now if the greys own the original technology that allows the ADC to abuse their players, are the greys liable for any harm that comes to them? Since they are not directly involved, it is not legally a matter of black and white. It is more likely that it is measured in…wait for it… shades of gray.

I think the ADC is going to quietly ignore any fixing of the Dice Code in their “players” and keep the game going another way.
They have a massively lucrative money maker, and this will probably be the heads up call that they need to get out of the slavery business.

so long as there are exploitable people, and those doing the exploiting are still getting money from people unconcerned with the exploitation they enable, such will continue.
as is the case with indentured labour today. people want the diamonds & latest fashions, they dont much care where they got to the store window.
besides, indentured labor isnt necessarily any more exploitative than a 9 to 5 job.

They owned the original tech and gave it out- true. But then their tech was changed and corrupted from the original intended purpose- hence why they with drew their involvement.
I don’t think the ADC will want to start that legal battle, they would loose.
Pretty much the ADC hacked and modified their fancy app phone/mp3 player/ gaming console and the warranty has been rendered void. It would be like a person trying to sue a phone brand when they hacked the shit out of it and the phone company in turned sued them for hacking the phone in the first place.
You can hack your phone, it just voids the warranty and the company withdrawals any responsibility to the hacked phone’s operation.

Actually the problem was OS updates without a clean install.
He started on Windows Ce, designed for mobile. Then they upgraded him to windows Me. Finally, they gave him the powerful Windows NT.
And everyone knows what your get then: Windows CeMeNT(r)… Runs like a brick(tm)

Sicali’s Soul Echo is not a code and she is not hurting Lexx. In fact, she was one of the few things helping to keep the Code at bay for a while.
I do not think they have a reason to do anything about her so they will not.

I still think that Riane’s Death Cry is a memory of Lexx’ now, so she’ll stay once the bad code is wiped out.

Though how the bad code is interacting with Lexx’s mind, it makes it seem like the bad code might be partially saved like her.
The Grey is saying correcting, this could only be the first step to a very complex operation. So they might have to go further then the actual nanite programing to fix this. The way the Grey put it, it sounds more like their installing a patch and if the nanites are being all removed, then the bad code most likely is installed on a similar medium as Riane.
It’s probably mostly in Lexx’s head.
