"It's okay," Mel smiled. "We're just having a discussion about you ... and your friends."
Another chill went up Chel's spine.
"You didn't send anyone, did you?" She tried to ignore the strange man and woman. The looks they were giving her made her very uncomfortable.
"No, Dear. What sort of parents do you think we are?" Mel was doing all the talking for the moment. It only made Chel more uncomfortable. Her mother's tone was completely calm and conversational. It was like they were discussing the weather or what they movie they were going to go watch. ;"We wouldn't do anything to put you in danger."
Chel glanced around the living room, then back at the door where Energy sat waiting. He had his head cocked to one side, listening to the conversation.

Vic didn’t directly shoot Riley, but he brought an inexperienced rookie on a first contact mission! He’ll end up shooting Chel himself if Lexx doesn’t take the bullet for her!
