“There isn’t a way to work it out …” Zaile stated. The words ran through the back of his mind. ‘He cannot fix the problem, because the problem is me.’ He ignored the words. Too much time had been invested to just throw away how he personally felt. “There is not a way for Lexx … it’s his fault. He cannot fix the problem.” “What did he do?” Maelinn prodded further. “He was born.” Zaile didn’t hesitate. “… does anyone have a choice in that?” Maelinn winced at the reply. “I would never have chosen to be what I am if were given that choice.” “Don’t say such a ridiculous thing, Maelinn.” Zaile snapped angrily. He was talking about Lexx, not Maelinn and didn’t like where the conversation was going.

  1. We all try to raise our children to be better than us. That doesn’t stop it from being infuriating when we succeed.
