The bird dice ambled off, missing Lexx’s presence entirely. Doubtless it had never had to pick through a forest. All Lexx had to do was remain still until it left. The other was probably nearby or they had split up, using the relay to pass on information. If one found him, the other three would converge upon him.

He was a sitting target for the taking if he kept hiding.

Time to take the situation and encounter into his own hands. Lexx slipped away through the shadows once again. He emerged at a place he’d been much earlier in the battle. It was more open with less places to hide…for him or them.

Lexx glanced around, checking the area for the other combatants. There were none. He strode out into the open, slowly unfolding his wings.

No more hiding.

He rose into the air, scanning the ground for movement. The higher he went, the more likely someone would see him.

And that’s what he wanted.

The scene played out far away on a holographic display. Chel stood next to Riley, where she had stood during the entire match. They hadn’t spoken much, fixated on the screens displaying the other fighters as they took out Lexx’s dice, temporarily removing them from play.

“What is he doing?” Chel gestured to the screen. It made no sense. Why would Lexx stop hiding? He was doing good.

“Changing tactics,” replied Riley. “He’s winning.”
