"I was bored!" Maenae suddenly piped up. She tugged repeatedly at Riley's coat. "I want to see Daddy!"
Riley bent over toward the little girl, trying to be more at her level. He didn't mind children, but he really didn't have time for Maenae.
"Yes, well, 'Daddy' is very busy." Riley explained gently. "I'll let him know you're here, okay, Maenae?"
"Okay!" Maenae giggled in response and tilted her head to one side, giving Riley a huge smile in thanks.
"Torin,…" Riley turned to his grinning assistant. "Keep Maenae occupied."
"Yes, Sir! I like kids!" Torin happily reached for Maenae's hand. "Come along, Maenae!"
Riley watched Maenae bounce away, hand in hand with Torin. A foreign look of deep concern and thought furrowed across Riley's forehead. He had just given Torin a very torturous job and he knew it. She couldn't have children of her own. No male littan would give her a second look because of her arm and her chest. By law, she could not hide the deformities or even receive a prosthetic arm for day to day work. If she had lost it some other way, yes, but being born with a birth defect marked you, even if it was one that couldn't be passed on. They were unsure if her defects were completely genetic, but Torin never seemed to give it a second thought.
She was happy.
"Well, that was a surprise." Maelinn slid her arms around Riley's arms and leaned against his back.
"One that I had not planned on." Riley sighed heavily. "This is not a good place for children." He worried what Maenae's presence here meant and what might be going on in the inner workings of the ADC that he was unaware of. He needed to make contact with his informants as soon as possible.

Ah yes, I believe to recall that Littans like their females flat. Well, different cultures, right? 😉

Actually, they like their females to have all four breasts the same size. Torin appears to have topheavy breasts, like Riley accused Chel of having, which is apparently considered unattractive. Add to that she appears to be missing a hand, and you have what, to a littan, is probably quite unattractive.
However, here on Earth, a second pair of boobs pretty much guarantees your ability to find plenty of mates. And the lack of a hand sure doesn’t hurt. There’s a whole internet community devoted to amputees that find their disability beautiful.
Together, this makes a lady who would be incredibly attractive to a surprisingly large portion of the population.
