Stepping through the door was like passing from one world to another. Lexx’s feet sank into soft sand, the incoming waves nearby. Light from the door illuminated his path as his head drooped. Serenity padded out of the door next to him and he glanced at her, tripped, and fell. He made no effort to stop the fall, his wings jerking out, but not with enough strength to lift him. Instead, he crumpled to the sand and didn’t move. A soft fuzzy sensation crept into his head, the desire to sleep wrapping around his entire body. “Lexx?” Serenity nudged his arm and he shifted, pushing himself up enough to stare at her. It only lasted a moment as he slipped away, falling to the sand again, succumbing to the darkness.
