Cheating. They’re throwing the battle. Acrid smoke filled the air, the breeze sending it after him. He had put out the fire he made, but the green grass still smoldered. Pyre kicked up the remaining embers, rising around Tairin with powerful flaps of his crimson wings. Tairin vanished from sight in a cloud as Lexx ran faster.

“Hunt him down,” said Tairin as Pyre circled, giving her a momentary window. Linone and Lintwo snarled, emerging from the edges of the flattened field. They were off in a shot, pursuing Lexx without reservation.
