Serenity tucked her body in for the roll, hit the wall and bounced off to land on her feet. She spun around as lights danced through her fur. She knew it was coming and bounded at Lexx in midchange, her rapidly widening jaws parting just above Lexx’s shoulder. Lexx was reaching for Chel, who was staring aghast at what he could not see coming. ---------------------------------------- Ahh.. the problem with action pages... they rarely need a lot of words to tell anything more than what you see. Update: March Goals updated! If you enjoy the comic, please support it however you can by voting, buying things or donating! A little goes a long ways, increases updates and keeps it from going on hiatus!

  1. Bigger, horns, scaly tummy… Oohh, and look at those talons!

    1. Serenity Evolved!

  2. Looks like Serenity is going to be one awesome dice.
Yay for the text updates! (yes, even though the words are few, they are much appreciated on action pages.

  3. Serenity doesn’t seem too serene right now…

  4. And a thought that just occured. Wonder if one of the children of Sirius and Serenity might bear a resemblance to Dischord…

    1. Bro-hoof! That would be epic!

  5. This is such an incredibly dynamic page! I love it.

  6. Serenity – how you’ve grown! I can’t wait to see a full-body view of her! I bet her modified african-dog markings are gorgeous on her dragonic form

  7. Whooo! Lexx is gonna loose a couple more limbs by the time this is done..

  8. TEETH! SHE’S FULL OF TEETH! RUN AWAY!

    1. XD I laughed out loud at that, seriously.

  9. … things just go from bad to worse for Lexx. fighting your own dice and they fight back…

  10. This scene would make an awesome CG animation! I can see it in my mind’s eye, her dog-form bouncing off the wall then shape-shifting as she lunges back toward her attacker. Thanks for the text, BTW, I had thought it was another die.

  11. Serenity is to Energy as Dash is to Stealth and as Epsy is to Zata. Lex likes keep male/female pair of his dice if I am remembering correctly.

How he is not over run with litters/clutches and not realize it is the cause of speculation.

    1. That problem was addressed earlier in the comic. When a female dice rolls if she is carrying eggs/cubs they are absorbed into the transformation. Most dice have a longer gestation than the few days they are on a particular side of their forms and so any pregnancies are aborted automatically in the moment they change to their next side.

Epsy was an exception since she 1) was first lucky enough come into season, 2) had her male counterpart present, and 3) is an egg layer. Eggs can be made much quicker than mammalian methods. She was also smart enough to stay out of the way and avoid exercising as much as the others and so delayed her dice roll until she was fighting with Lexx the night she laid her eggs. She would have had more than the six eggs if she had not been forced to roll during the confrontation.

Also, Lexx has been playing his previous two rounds of Alien Dice fast and hard with very little time between finishing one round and starting the next. Even in their ultimate forms (fully rolled), again there would not be time for any dice litters to appear before the parents were reset to a basic level 1 dice again.

Stealth has anguished over this very fact in the past and also that she is a “disposable” dice that is meant only for playing the game and not so much for existing much longer beyond the current game. It is insinuated that disposable dice have fewer rights and freedoms as permanent dice and one of those missing freedoms is the right to breed.

      1. I know it was covered, but still there were too many openings for opportunity and far too much uncontrolled risk (understanding that Lex had more important things on his mind than his dice breeding).

If a dice wants follow their instincts to breed, they will find a way. Epsy was able to get far enough to lay eggs – twice. Once they were absorbed, second some were laid- and I’m pretty sure she would find away to do it again.

But- she’s also a more simple/instinctual dice rather than say Stealth who over thinks things and is aware of the consequences because, well she over thinks them. *shrug*

I think I was more head-slaming over the fact that Lex seemed completely oblivious to the risk of something like Epsy happening (and given that he would most likely have thought and said the same on the topic as you listed above- if he *did* think about it- he probably would have concluded that something like that would be highly unlikely for the same reasons you said) and was at a complete loss on how the hell something like that had happened. And then more important things came up- again- and we haven’t gone back to it.

Nature is tenacious to the point of insanity when it comes to reproduction.

        1. The dice are intelligent and they know that breeding WILL cause more problems for Lexx. So, most of the dice don’t breed by choice.

Epsy is just the exception to that rule.

Lexx is a little oblivious when it comes to the side effects of pairing his dice up the way he has.

He’s also not researched some of the critters he used on the first run, as Stealth gets her ability to walk through walls from her species, not from being dice bonded.

        2. speaking of which, how have things been going with Epsy and her clutch lately?

  12. Serenity has rolled up at least one side. Now she’s even more bitey.

  13. If Lexx rolls, will it have any effect on the virus or his mental condition? If so, maybe there is more than one reason for the dice to stop him.

  14. boya serenity YOU RULE

  15. I’m guessing she went from a 1/2 to a 5/6.

  16. Serenity just be rolling, I think her type is 8 sided since she is from the same set as Fly and that insane raccoon one.

It’s been so long though that I have forgotten how many sides she has. Still, nice to see her Dragon form emerge. I wanna see her eyes. Energy always has solid single color eyes, I want to see how the expressive dog eyes have changed for her.

  17. What is it with dogs becoming dragons in this series?! Not that I’m complaining. I’m just curious. Bring on the Dragons!!

Annnnnd keeping with my theme… Congratulations your Serenity evolved into a Drachaos! Drachaos used Dragon Fang!

    1. Both Sirius and Serenity were bonded to the same creature in the first phase run, so they’re base species is the fluffy, dragony, and toothy critter that both Sirius and Serenity have become.

It also seems like each pair of male and female dice bond to the same base species of critter on each subsequent cycle of the game.

That’s why each pair of dice is always a similar species. Although, Stealth and Dash bonded to a house cat and a tiger. Sirius and Serenity bonded to a basset hound and an african wild dog. So it’s based on base species pairs and not exact matches.

Rolling to higher sides means the first bonded creature shows more and more, but that the dice still retain a few features from the current set.

Hence, Serenity’s bit puppy ears and the TEETH! SHARP TEETH!

  18. Welp, looks like we’re about to be short a main character. The comic will now be about Serenity and Chel. One is a sentient mutant dog creature with a lovable personality and teeth that could chew through a tank. The other is an abducted human far from home. THEY FIGHT CRIME!

  19. On close examination, it appears Serenity is looking for a maiming blow rather than a killing wound. She seems to be angling her forelegs to Lexx’s arm. I’m thinking she’s going to try to pull him back and restrain him. Do as little damage as possible. The text does say that Stealth has help on the way, and Serenity only has to stall Lexx and defend Chel until they get there.

  20. Most of the Dice would not hurt Lexx if they can help it. I don’t think Serenity would go for the kill. She’s just trying to drive him off to protect Chel.

Serenity in particular seems to have an easy-going disposition, which tells you how serious this is.
