Power pulsed through his body, a wave building up with growing intensity. The first wave dissipated the energy whips. The second rippled out, flattening the grass. An eerie silence filled Lexx’s ears, followed by a hum, and then he unleashed everything, flattening the grass and crushing everything in the grass immediately around him. Another wave followed, propelling him into the air as grass blades filled the air, mixed with clods of dirt and fine dust.

Lexx cupped his wings, riding the updraft up and and then down. He twisted, scanning the now mostly flattened area beneath. Tairin moaned, pushing herself up from where she had landed flat on her back. Stalks of grass slid off her body, revealing tiny cuts.

“Concede, Tairin,” shouted Lexx, raising a hand. Energy gathered, flowing through his fingers and down his arm, the threat clear.

“Death or victory! Nothing in between!” Tairin’s arms shook as she slammed them into the earth. Golden light arced from them, a snap filling the air. Her already spiky hair rose sharper as she pushed herself up on wobbly legs.

She wasn’t done.

I retyped the next chapter, laid it out, and printed the templates just now. I had to clean up some pacing issues and delete unnecessary dialogue.

I’m doing better, but yes, behind in the text. Inconsistent sleep where I get a few days where I sleep most of the night and then nights where I get 2-3 hours of sleep. :/ Still taking meds and they are helping. Just. Slow. – Tiff
