As if on cue, Giant crashed through the trees. His massive wings barely cleared the tree trunks, slowing his attack. Evade. Lexx waited until Giant’s feet were on the ground. He lifted his wings, flipped and rolled over the larger dice’s charge. Disabling their wings was his priority, and he ended up behind Giant, exactly where he wanted to be. He back-winged, striking Giant with the same blast he’d hit Vest with, but more concentrated. Giant howled in pain, but didn’t go down. He staggered into a tree trunk. His wings took the brunt of the blast. The stench of burning flesh filled the air. Escape. Even though his opponent didn’t go down, he was temporarily incapacitated. Lexx rolled, flying awkwardly through the palm trees. Vest was on his hands and knees, his back smoking. The other dice were nowhere to be seen. Out of sight; out of mind. Repeat. Lexx broke through the trees and rose over the forest canopy. Given more foolish tactics from his opponents, and he’d be able to outlast them.
Whew, end of the chapter! I made an awful error while working on these two. I for some reason FORGOT that creating a background to reuse was what I wanted to do. Instead, I built the backgrounds separately in each panel and didn’t realize what I had done until I had twenty layers with a palm tree in each of them and was trying to match them up. 😀 – Tiff
